Soul Sisters Berlin was inspired in November 2014 by a workshop and performance at Ballhaus Naunynstraße entitled, “Colored Woman in a White World” (produced by performance artist, Annabel Guérédrat). The international group of Black womxn who participated in this workshop and performance deeply bonded with one another and through their efforts to maintain their new found friendship and stay connected Soul Sisters Berlin began. During the intense two week workshop in preparation for the performance, these womxn realized the importance and need for a safe space in which womxn of the African Diaspora in Berlin could share their experiences, express themselves, connect, and empower each other. This intimate privatsphere of like-minded friends rapidly grew into a community of over 300 engaged womxn of color who have passion and interest in enriching their community through conscious presence, knowledge and perspective!
